What is Microneedling

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy

Microneedling aka collagen induction therapy is a safe alternative to plastic surgery. It uses a 36, 16, or 12 pin disposable needle, the cartridge tip is attached to a handheld device. Topical numbing is applied for 30 minutes to the skin. This will help elevate any pain associated with the procedure. Once numbing is removed, the skin is cleansed with an antiseptic. The technician bags the device in a plastic sheath, for patient safety, attaches disposable needle cartridge. The procedure then is lightly touched down on the patients face and moved in circle motions. This creates a micro injury to the skin. This process will cause the brain to tell the skin to create more collagen and elastin (making you look younger). Tiny pin holes are created to allow stem factor, stem cells, growth factors or exosomes into the skin. Without having these chambers in the skin, the stems cells cannot efficiently enter into the skin. Once the product is applied, the skin takes it in and repairs and rejuvenates. The microneedling device has an adjustable speed, depth of needle and horsepower. We adjust for your skin type and concerns. The deeper the needles the more downtime, the more shallow the less downtime. Both are good options for skin rejuvenation. Now let’s discuss the fun stuff!!! What are the benefits of microneedling aka collagen induction therapy…

Microneedling is less expensive than laser treatments, which can cost about four times as much. Microneedling may work better for people with darker skin tones as it doesn’t involve heat the way laser treatments do.

Recommended: shallow microneedling monthly. Deeper treatments are recommended every 4-6 months.
